Haylee Ledford Abducted from Asheville, NC: Update: FOUND

UPDATE: Haylee Ledford has been found and returned to her family in NC. Pierce faces federal charges in the case.

On September 6, 2014, 13-year-old Haylee Ledford was abducted from Leicester, NC, just outside Asheville. A felony warrant has been issued for 22-year-old Jacob Thomas Pierce of Golden, Colorado in connection with her disappearance. Police believe the child and her abductor may be traveling toward Colorado in a white Honda Accord with Colorado plates. A full description of Haylee, her abductor Jacob Thomas Pierce, and the car can be found below.

This child lives in my area, and her family and the community are very concerned for her safety. Please, take a look at the photos of Haylee Ledford and Jacob Pierce, and alert authorities if you’ve seen them. You can reach the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Department at (828) 250-4503. Please share this information on your social networks as well, so we can get this little girl home to her family. I have a daughter Haylee’s age and the thought of her being out there with some guy in his twenties turns my stomach. Let’s bring Haylee home.

    Do you think they are on their way to Colorado? I live like 30 minutes from Golden and can go find the scums house if need be.

      As for finding his house… I have a daughter the same age as Haylee and while I totally get your sentiment, I have to go on record as saying please don’t do anything that will get you in trouble, just keep a lookout and call the police if you see him.

        I have a 14 year old son and I wouldn’t do anything except park across the street and maybe flatten his tires if I saw the car, then call the police.

      YOU, don’t have a clue who or what has happened! Maybe you should keep your mouth shut until you know what the facts are and what REALLY happened and who the instigator is!

      She was 13 years old. If you think it’s okay for a child that age to be taken halfway across the country by a grown man, you need your fucking head examined. I hope you’re not a parent. What exactly were his plans for her? A quick trip to Mexico for ice cream?

        Look, I’m not arguing with some stranger on the internet about this. It’s ridiculous. I’m going to reiterate this once, and then ask you not to comment again. Haylee is 13 years old. Mr. Pearce is 22. Legally, Haylee cannot consent to anything. Mr. Pearce illegally removed her from her family and took her across state lines. If you think it’s okay for an adult to behave that way, I have serious concerns about any minors in your care. You show a serious lack of judgment here.

        It appears that you’re close to Mr. Pearce. I understand that situations like this can be extremely stressful for families and friends of perpetrators as well as victims. If you care about Mr. Pearce I urge you to support him by encouraging him to get help for whatever made him believe that abducting a young girl was an appropriate thing to do.
